ScriptMaker TutorialReusing the ScriptsProvided you have backed-up your script, you can reload it at any time, amend it if necessary, and use it to produce further setups. The last eight scripts can be selected by right-clicking the Reopen Script button in ScriptMaker's bottom panel. Alternatively you can left-click the Reopen Script button and browse for the script. If you currently have an un-saved script in ScriptMaker you will be prompted to save this before the next script is loaded. When browsing for a script, whenever the mouse is over the filename of a script in the Open dialog, the date the script was created, the Application Name and Version Number, and (where one has been given) the comment included in the script will be shown below the list of files. When the script is loaded the files which are specified in the script are checked to ensure that they are all still available. If any are not found a warning message will be displayed. If you have chosen the option to Check executable version number on ScriptMaker's "Initial Setup" page, ScriptMaker will also attempt to check the current version number of the main executable file in the installation and compare it with the version number shown in the script. If they differ, a message will be shown telling you what the new version number is. This can help to avoid you forgetting to change the version number when issuing a new release. If ScriptMaker cannot determine the version number of the main executable file (either because the file does not contain a VERSION_INFO resource, or because ScriptMaker cannot determine which is the main executable file) you will again get a warning message.
Modifying a ScriptOnce you have reloaded a script you can modify it as you wish, even changing the Inno Setup version which will be used to compile it. However, you should remember that different versions of Inno Setup have different script requirements, and you may need to make other changes to the script. Please note that ScriptMaker no longer supports scripts written for Inno Setup versions prior to 1.10.Changing the version of Inno Setup to an earlier version is not recommended, as you may specify options in your script which were not available in the earlier version of Inno Setup.
Appending a ScriptIf you have a set of files which are common to several applications, you can set up a separate script for those files. Whenever you are creating a script which uses those files, click the Append Script button (rather than the Reopen Script button) and the files, extra directories, and all other settings except those on the Initial Setup and Setup pages will be appended to the current script.
